Amy Pardo

I have been playing the flute for 13 years, and I love it. It is a beautiful sounding instrument, and I am really enjoying the path it has taken me in life.

I am from Sapulpa, Oklahoma and I started the flute in the 6th grade band (my father was my first teacher). Soon, I found an amazing flutist, Mary Ann French, who was an excellent instructor. With her guidance I was able to recieve a scholarship at the University of Miami's Frost School of Music. Once at UM, I studied with the late Christine Nield-Capote. The impact she had on me has yet to cease resonating. Also at UM I studied jazz with professors Gary Keller and Whit Sidener. These guys put me in a musical scene that I love: improvisation.

I am now caught up in writing music, playing Bach Sonatas, and putting together a quartet which I am very excited about. I am also teaching private lessons, and playing in a flute and guitar duo with my husband, Steve Pardo.

I have studied privately/worked with musicians such as Jim Black, Jamie Baum, Mark Sparks, Ira Sullivan and Nicole Riner.
